Hello Electrons!

I am elated to join the Benjamin Franklin High School family as an Assistant Principal this school year. I look forward to getting to know each and every member of our illustrious community.

As an educator with 10+ years of experience in the field, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse student populations in urban settings. My experience has taught me the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that caters to the unique needs of each student. I consistently reflected on James Baldwin’s quote, “If I love you, I have to make you conscious of the things you don’t see,”. My educational career I have taken on the mantra of “Educator as disruptor”. Education is synonymous with liberation for Black and Brown children. In the role of AP, I wholeheartedly believe that it is my responsibility to have a lens to bring light to systemic strongholds. My experience primarily within special education has given me a keen eye to recognize bias and seek revolutionary outcomes towards inclusion.

Outside of the classroom, I created a Study Abroad Program for Philadelphia youth to broaden their worldview. Most recently, I led 55 middle and high school students to Madrid, Paris and London studying the African Diaspora and the juxtaposition of Blackness, Power and Community. Providing students with various opportunities to see themselves as Global Citizens is a passion of mine. I hope to bring this program to the Ben Franklin community in years to come.

I am excited about the opportunity to bring my skills, knowledge, and passion to Ben Franklin. As an Assistant Principal, I am committed to fostering a positive culture that promotes academic excellence, social-emotional learning, and equity for all students. Building relationships with stakeholders is crucial to the success of our school, and I am excited to work alongside the community and learn from each of you.

I am looking forward to building connections with you all. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions and concerns as they arise throughout the year.

In solidarity,

Chloe Brown
Assistant Principal
